Eugenio Ynion
He is the author of Terrestrial Navigation 1 and 2, Celestial Navigation 1 and 2, and Regulations for Preventing Collision. He is also a co-author of Cargo Handling 2 (Handling of Dangerous Cargoes) for Management Level.
An experienced shipmaster, for many years, he has taught the subjects of Navigation, Seamanship, and Collision Regulations in private maritime schools and has handled several land-based management positions: Superintendent of maritime school, Training Director of accredited maritime training center, and Port Captain of shipping company. From 1985 to 1992, he commanded Japanese and Norwegian-owned ships of various sizes and types engaged in worldwide trade. Two of which were Panamax-type bulk carriers plying the Trans-Atlantic and Trans-Pacific routes.
On January 29, 1995, he was appointed by Pres. Fidel V. Ramos as member of the Board of Examiners for Marine Deck Officers. When his term expired in January 1999 he was retained by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as Consultant on Maritime Affairs, a position which he held until 2001. During his stint as member of the Board of Examiners, he was named Chairman, Council on Continuing Professional Education (CPEC) for Marine Deck Officers from February 1997 to January 1999. He also served as PRC’s representative to the Technical Panel on Maritime Education, Commission on Higher Education, from July 1998 to January 1999. In April 1999, he served as member of the Philippine panel in a meeting with IMO panel of competent persons in Singapore to finalize the discussion on the Philippine position prior to entry in the IMO White List. |
Florencio Cosare
He is the author of Cargo Handling 1 and 2, Ship Construction and Stability, Basic Safety, and a co-author of Communication Without Radio.
Started his shipboard experience as a cadet in 1979 and passed the 3rd Mate Licensure Examination in 1981, 2nd Mate in 1984, Chief Mate in 1986 and the Master’s Licensure Examination in 1995. From 1980 to 1986, he worked for PASCOR Manning Agency, 1986 to 1990 for Career Ship Management, and from 1990 to 2006 at NYK-Fil Ship Management. In 1995 he was given the title “Officer of the Year” by NKY-Ship Management at Tokyo, Japan. He takes his first command as master in 1997 on Bulk vessels.
At present he works in Quintana Management LLC as one of the master on board bulk carrier. He is a member of the Nautical Institute based in UK. Acquired training in IMO course 3.12 for assessors and Management Level Course for instructors by MTC. Whenever he is not on board ship, he works at the DMMA College of Southern Philippines, Davao City as Vice-Chairman for Maritime Studies. |
Limic dela Calzada
He is the author of Merchants Ships Search and Rescue (Revised Edition) and Ship and Ship Routines (Revised Edition). He is also a co-author of Collision Regulations, Stability and Trim, Ship and Ship Routines Workbook, and Personnel Management.
A graduate of associate in Nautical Science degree from the Cebu College of Commerce (now University of Cebu) in 1971, he started his career on board Philippine coastwise trade vessel as an apprentice mate for one year and transferred to the worldwide trade with the Maritime Company of the Philippines to complete his two-year apprenticeship. He obtained his 3/M license in 1975, 2/M in 1977, C/M in 1979 and M/M in 1984. He served on board foreign vessels as a master from 1986 to 1995, mostly on log ships and bulk carriers and twice on board Panamax vessels.
A senior instructor at the University of Cebu since 1997, he is now the chairperson of the College of Maritime Education at the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue. |
Andres Hilario, Jr.
He is a co-author of Collision Regulations, Stability and Trim, Ship and Ship Routines Workbook, and Personnel Management.
A trained academician and officer having obtained two degrees, the first being his Bachelor of Science in Education Major in English and the second his Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation. His experience as educator and officer is extensive having taught as high school teacher and as a nautical instructor for more than a decade. He served as officer on board for three years and was Port Captain in Bahrain for over a year. He is currently senior instructor at the University of Cebu – Maritime Education and Training Center. |
Rafael Querikiol
He is a co-author of Collision Regulations, Stability and Trim, Ship and Ship Routines Workbook, and Personnel Management.
A senior instructor at the University of Cebu – Maritime Education and Training Center, he has been teaching at the academy as well as in the training center for the years. He served as officer on board vessels from 1976 to 1981 and 1992 to 1995. For years he was land-based serving as dock master for a multinational shipyard based in Cebu. |
Aaron Templa
He is a co-author of Collision Regulations, Stability and Trim, Ship and Ship Routines Workbook, and Personnel Management.
Holds a 2/M license and has a Master Degree in Teaching Marine and Nautical Science from the University of Cebu. He has served as officer on board log ships and bulk carriers in the Far East and worldwide route. He is now a senior instructor at the University of Cebu – Maritime Education and Training Center and at the Graduate School of the same university. |
Roger Galve
He is a co-author of Engineering Materials.
A faculty member of Marine Engineering Department, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Molo, Iloilo City, he completed the academic requirements in M.S.M.E. on March 2001. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering degree at JBLCF-Molo in 1995. He handled subjects such as Power Plant 1, Auxiliary Machinery 1 and 2, MARPOL, Engine Watchkeeping 1, Engineering Materials, and Seamanship. He was the subject area head of professional area from 1999 to 2001.
Presently, he is the Venue Manager of the school’s TESDA-accredited Assessment Center, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-TESDA Assessment Center (JTAC) |
Mario Romualdo Sequio
He is a co-author of Engineering Materials.
He is a professional mechanical engineer, past president of PSME, Iloilo Chapter, past regional director of PSME-Visayas and Master’s Degree holder in Maritime Education. He is also a member of Phi Delta Kappa Educational Foundation, an International Organization promoting excellence in research, service and leadership.
He is a faculty member of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Marine Engineering Department and is presently designated as the Faculty Assistant to the Administrator, in charge of personnel Matters. |
Rolando Alimen
He is a co-author of Engineering Materials, Power Plant 1, and Electro Technology 1 and 2.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City and his Master of Science in Maritime Education from John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation – Molo. He has been teaching mathematics, thermodynamics, engineering materials, mechanics, and refrigeration for more than a decade. |
Samuel Daguio
He is the author of Fuel Oils and Lubricants.
He obtained his degree in Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering at the Philippine Maritime Institute, he also completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Technological Institute of the Philippines and finished his Computer Technician/Basic Electronics course at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. has over eight years of on board experience and helped in developing various simulators for training purposes, such as bridge simulators, engine control consoles and electrical panel boards.
He attended various seminars and conventions which included the ISO 900/ISM Code, the IMO Model Course 6.09 and the DNV Quality Management ISO 9000. Currently, he is the Managing Director of Christian Maritime Development and Consulting Services, Inc., where he conducts ISO/ISM consultancies, lectures and audits, in-house trainings, and develops course/training programs. |
Teresita Paragon
She is a co-author of Solid Mensuration.
A graduate from the University of Iloilo with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education major in Mathematics, minor in General Science, she has completed the academic requirements and passed the comprehensive examinations for her Master of Science in Teaching Mathematics at the Ateneo de Manila University. She is the head of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department of the John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (Arevalo), Inc. She has been with the institution since 1973. Presently, she is finishing her Master of Science in Maritime Education at the John B. Lacson Foundation Graduate School. |
